The Harrison Fire Department, Fire District #2 is comprised of seven pieces of firefighting and life-saving apparatus. IAFF Local 2245, uniformed professional firefighters of Harrison, NY are resposible for operating our only aerial device, Tower Ladder 24, (TL24), as well as our first due engine, Engine 13 (E13). As they are the only members associated with the fire department who are required to drive and operate these pieces of apparatus, all other NYS interior-structural certified volunteer firemen are allowed to operate and drive these vehicles at other specific times with proper supervision.
Primary Apparatus:
Tower Ladder 24- Our first due truck company is responsible for search and rescue of victims at a fire scene.
Engine 13- Our first due engine is responsible for initial fire attack.
Engine 10- Our second due engine company is responsible for water supply and ventilation.
Engine 12- Our third due engine is esponsible for scene support tasks and command operations.
Rescue 19- Our only specialized piece, the rescue truck is responsible for removing patients from critically dangerous situations where advanced tools and equipment are needed, such as serious motor vehicle accidents, trench and building collapses, water rescues, confined space areas, etc.
Marine 35- A twelve foot zodiac hard floor inflatable boat, used to rescue patients from water emergencies not accessible by car or foot.
Command Units / Chief's Vehicles:
Utilized by the fire chiefs, these vehicles are outfitted with rescue and firefighting equipment to be deployed at a moments notice or in rapid response. Responsible for establishing command at fire scenes and executing the mission of the department whilst keeping residents as well as our firemen safe and informed.
Car 2161- Operated by the Chief of the Fire Department
Car 2162- Operated by the 1st Assistant Chief
Car 2163- Operated by the 2nd Assistant Chief
Supplemental Apparatus:
Engine 11- Spare fire engine to uphold fire safety when another is placed out of service for maintenance, ceremonial activities, etc.
Utility 20- Light duty SUV utilized for rapid response to a fire scene, transporting firefighters, gear and tools. Spare chief's vehicle.
